The five elements – Mahabhutas – combine in the body with the three biological energies Vata, Pitta und Kapha. This so called Doshas represents the different areas of bodily function and occurs differently in everyone. This occurrence has a large influence on the state of an individuals body and mind and is the basis of all endeavours in Ayurveda.
Ayurveda determines three types of persons and differentiates treatment methods based on these categories. The three ‘Doshas’, known as regulation principles, shape individuals’ physical, mental and spiritual characteristics. According to Ayurveda, we are healthy and happy when Doshas are harmonious.
VATA: People who are slim & light, flexible and constantly active are the Vata type. They are quick thinkers but also quick to forget and often react anxiously.
PITTA: A Pitta type has an average figure and is agile. They are decisive and happy to lead but quick to lose composure and are easily angered.
KAPHA: The Kapha type is stout and calm, remains composed in stressful situations and leans towards idleness as opposed to hecticness. Kapha types are distinguished by patience, strength of mind and a sweet temperament.
Your constitution type is based on the relationship between the three Doshas and forms the central focus for nutritional and cure planning. The goal is to balance these three powers to achieve improved health, capability and happiness.
